Samoa

SMY Hohenzollern, the German Emperor's personal yacht, was launched on 27 June 1892 at the Vulcan Werft, Stettin, Germany. It replaced a previous Hohenzollern (1867) which had become too old. The Hohenzollern became the symbol of the German Kaiser's ambitions to built a wold-class navy.

Germany Souvenier sheets on War

In 1936 a rarely seen German souvenir sheet with a stamp depicting a horse race. The 42 pfennig sheet (Scott #B90) was sold with a surcharge to raise money for funding a 100,000 mark sweepstakes prize in the Munich race ("Munchen Riem 1936"). How much money was raised through sales of this brown sheet? I am not sure . But it's a fine - and elusive - topical item.
Wmk.237 appears on the stamp with "Munchen Riem 1936" water marked on the Souvenier sheet

Dedication

As I start writing in my blog, I would like to firstly dedicate this blog to the people who have lost their lives in the wars, who have been a direct or indirect victim of war, terrorism etc.

The views in this blog are my personal and I feel strongly today that no war has been won by anybody and all have lost in a war.

I would also like to thank each and everyone from God almighty, my wife, my family, friends and pen pals from around the world for helping me collect these wonderful items on war.

I hope this blog will be a learning experience on world wars . I will try to do my best in giving the right information. If I do any mistakes in any article please feel free to correct me and I will be glad to work on it.

Lastly I would put this beautiful quote of Mahatma Gandhi

"What difference does it make to the dead, the orphans and the homeless, whether the mad destruction is wrought under the name of totalitarianism or the holy name of liberty or democracy?"
Mahatma Gandhi (1869 - 1948), "Non-Violence in Peace and War"

Thank You
